method provides
access to the full
range of product

available from
DOE, allowing you
to add, remove,

via your web services

| Web services are not intended for casual interaction or manual human input, but is designed to be coded into your inventory and sales processes. Using web services to connect with DOE requires a web development resource to create an interface that can package and send messages to DOE, and accept and integrate messages received from DOE. |

Most
companies as well
as all existing
e-commerce sites
already use
a web server, such
as Apache or IIS,
through which web
services are implemented.
Thus, no new technology
is needed when
connecting to DOE
through web services.
Using web services allows for interoperability between platforms. In other words, it does not matter if your existing commerce systems are running on Linux, Sun Solaris, or Windows: they can all send messages to and receive messages from DOE.
Once the interface
is developed, product
data can be transmitted
automatically to
DOE, and pricing
data can be received
and incorporated
into your systems
without further human intervention. This is a particular
advantage for companies
with large product
catalogs. You can
also manage your
product catalog through your
developed interface
if you choose. |
