The company began in July 2000 as MusicRebellion.com, an experiment that combined behavioral psychology, economic theory, and digital technology. The original vision of Dr. Jan Eglen and the founding team provided a winning solution for everyone involved: if product prices are based upon consumer demand, then consumers will feel the prices are fair because they are participating in the pricing process, and sellers will optimize returns on their product sales.
Through cooperation between Ph.D.-level economists and psychologists, and early support from Rose-Hulman Ventures, the company developed a robust platform that supports several pricing solutions for a range of products and marketplaces. The founders quickly realized that this technology’s application could reach far beyond just digital media downloads: it promised to transform commerce for any retailer in any industry. This system formed the foundation for the DigitalOnlineExchange™ (DOE™), the company’s primary product. As the firm grew, the founders changed the name to Digonex Technologies, Inc., to reflect that this platform and technology was the real heart of the firm.
In June 2005, DTI expanded its product line to include Nabit™. Acclaimed as “well designed, aesthetically pleasing and a thrill to use,” this free download allows eBay buyers to monitor several listings simultaneously, while providing sellers with a venue in which to spotlight featured items.
Throughout its growth, the company has
never forgotten that its roots came from
exploring the social impact of networks
on people. In January 2006, DTI teamed
with the National Center for Missing and
Exploited Children® to
increase awareness and raise funds through
a downloadable music single. In May 2006,
DTI collaborated with Avanade® and
Microsoft® to bring urgent bulletins
on abducted children to MSN® customers
through MSN Alerts. Meanwhile, the company’s pioneering efforts to
combine technology with behavioral and
econometric demand marketing principles
paid off: the intellectual property at
DOE’s core was awarded
a patent in July 2006.
2007 continues to bring growth and innovation
to the company. Technology advancements that complete the bridge between
a company’s online and physical stores will allow DOE to be the first
system to allow the same real-time, profit-optimized price changes
for products both on and offline. New product management tools and
an adapter for BizTalk® will afford
more opportunities for customization and integration with a company’s
existing systems. These advances continue to position DTI as a leader
in e-commerce, providing an unparalleled solution that brings fair
pricing to consumers and optimized profits to retailers. |
