-- MusicRebellion.Com, Inc., announced Wednesday that they would give $2,000 in free music to the 12-year-old girl, Brianna LaHara, who recently settled her lawsuit with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for illegally swapping music files on the Internet.
MusicRebellion, an online media retailer, decided to give LaHara a $2,000 account to show online music fans that a legal alternative exists.
"MusicRebellion is committed to encouraging all age groups to engage in those behaviors which are moral, ethical, and legal," said Jan Eglen, CEO of MusicRebellion. "We applaud Brianna's forthrightness in stepping forward and admitting a mistake had been made and then being a responsible citizen in settling the issue immediately. This is exemplary behavior and MusicRebellion, on this one-time basis, wants to show our support for the music industry, for the legal system, and for Brianna's mature behavior."
The $2,000 MusicRebellion account has been set up for LaHara and she can now actively download music legally, paying less than $1 per song.
MusicRebellion has no intention of ever donating music to file swappers again, but hopes that online music fans who might otherwise be unaware of a legal alternative will now recognize the vast availability.
MusicRebellion is an online media retailer that offers over 200,000 songs that include both Independent and major label artists. The music offered is available on a pay-per-download model with over 99% being burnable and transportable. The company focuses on the security of digital content and development of a fair method of e-commerce, its dynamic pricing structure. This system provides consumer-driven pricing for any product offered. The price of any music file changes as demand for it changes. MusicRebellion will allow the delivery of music files at the lowest possible cost consistent with the market. Music consumers receive realistic pricing while artists and record companies receive reasonable returns.
