“Nabit 1.2 is the first step in our global initiative to bring a user-friendly desktop application to eBay,” said Jan Eglen, CEO and president of the Indianapolis-based Digonex Technologies Inc. “The technology allows consumers to bid directly from their desktop on eBay items without ever opening their eBay Web browser. All Nabit version 1.1 users will automatically be upgraded to version 1.2.”
Digonex is a member of the eBay Developers Program. As a recognized eBay compatible application, Nabit allows secure, direct bidding from a user’s desktop. The original Nabit application was introduced last June at eBay Live! for U.S. applications.
Nabit shares information seamlessly and automatically with the user’s eBay watch list. Updates made in Nabit, such as removing or adding items, are automatically made in the user’s watch list; likewise, every change made in the watch list is reflected in Nabit. Pop-up notifications alert buyers when they have been outbid, win or lose a bid, when the price changes on an item they are watching, or if their auction-style listing is about to expire.
Buyers can also export their Nabit watch list and send it as an email attachment where it is downloaded and imported by other Nabit users. The application also auto-refreshes to keep buyers aware of changes and can be manually updated as often as the buyer likes. As a listing nears its end, the application auto-refreshes more frequently.
Auctionbytes freelance writer Mark O’Neill reviewed Nabit from a buyer’s perspective, “The (Nabit) interface is well designed, aesthetically pleasing and a thrill to use.” He added, “(Nabit) is able to monitor live eBay listings from the computer desktop without having to go to the eBay site.”
Several Nabit features customize the program to the buyer’s preferences: adjustable scrolling, custom sorting, and importing eBay watch lists.
The eBay item
number and a picture of the item (if provided by the seller)
are shown on Nabit. Throughout the eBay experience, Nabit shows
the time remaining for the listing, the current bid and price,
as well as the seller identification and feedback rating. For
a free download of Nabit, go to www.getnabit.com.
First time eBay users will be directed to www.eBay.com to
register as a new user. Unlike many other applications, Nabit
does not collect a buyer’s username or password, making Nabit
very sensitive to the eBay user’s anonymity.
